Khor Virap, Areni, Noravank and Jermuk

One-day tour from Yerevan to the southeast of the country, to the old temples and monasteries of the country, which adopted Christianity as the official religion, one of the first in the world. The trip includes visits to architectural monuments and many other places. The tour also includes visits to the hot mineral springs in Jermuk. A pleasant end to the excursion program will be a trip to the winery in Areni with a tasting of amazing Armenian wines.

Meet the guide and driver at your hotel in Yerevan and head to Khor Virap Monastery (“deep hole”). According to legend, sv. Gregory the Illuminator, the patron saint of Armenia, was here in the basement for 13 years for the spread of Christianity. The location of the monastery allows you to enjoy the best views of the mountains. Continuation to the Noravank complex (12th century), located on the ledge of the deep winding gorge of the Arpa River. A trip to Jermuk, famous for its thermal mineral springs, surrounded by alpine greenery and forests, where you can try the local mineral water. Last stop in Areni, a city famous for producing the famous Armenian wine from pomegranate and apricot. Return to Yerevan.
